2010 Grammys!

I just got off the bus and ran straight to my computer to check the results. I always love the Grammys, almost as much as I love the Oscars. Congrats to Jay for winning like 3 more Grammys, that puts his total at like 11 or 12 I think. Kanye has 12, so they’re almost tied now. Anyways, I’m a bit upset that “Crack A Bottle” beat “Make Her Say” for the Grammy, but otherwise its all good. Oh, and I’m pissed MGMT didn’t win best new artist. Beyonce won like a trillion more Grammys of course. I’m also a bit upset that Drake didn’t win any Grammys, but to be honest, he doesn’t even have an official album out, just mixtapes, so even the fact that he was nominated for 2 Grammys is definitely saying something.

By the way, speaking of Drake, his performance with Weezy x Eminem x Travis Barker, after they did Drop The World, was fire. Check it out…

The video quality is shit by the way.

Ps where the fuck was Kanye for the performance? And for that matter, where the fuck was he when T.Swift won? Whats the point of giving her awards if there’s no drunken, pissed off Kanye to get on stage and announce who actually should have won?

I’ve been moving a lot today. Moving and thinking. And, I’m exhausted. I’ve been all over town running various stupid errands and I’ve had to keep track of everything and I’m soo tired I just want to sleep. Its times like this when I turn to Kind Of Blue. Even though I’ve posted this song millions of times before, I’m going to throw it up again.

I always like to relax to this song. Partially because of the sheer nostalgia, and partially because I just love it. Every time I listen to it, I pay more and more attention to it, and the more attention I pay, the more I love it. Thats just how it is. So, once more, Blue In Green, By Miles Davis.

After showing a ton of little previews of the line, Stussy and Fred Perry have finally released pictures from their up coming “Blank Canvas” line. The line features aspects typical of both brands, keeping Stussys classic streetwear aspects, mixed with Fred Perrys clean cut English design style. Personally, I love ever piece from the line and I’m really excited to have it release so I can go buy it, haha. Anyways, check it out.

More Surprises

Today in the mail I got two books that I’ve wanted for a long time but never gotten around to buying. Although in a few days I’ll write a more in depth article, I just wanted to post up the fact that they’re in my possession, because, to be honest, I couldn’t be happier.

Both completely legendary books. To be honest, I didn’t really know about The Americans until my step dad told me about it, and told me to check it out. After I did, I was stoked and bought it right away. Since getting it, I’ve barely put it down because I’ve been looking through it constantly. The portraits and the way that Robert Frank portrays people is absolutely amazing. I also love his attention to detail in photographs, it’s truly inspiring. The little things that he picks up on and manages to photograph are what make the book as great is it is.

Tulsa is different. Its crude and graphic and exactly what I wanted. Possibly Larry Clark’s most famous work, Tulsa is a book of pictures that centre around his home town and his friends. What I didn’t expect though, is that the whole book would be 40 pages of pictures of his friends doing heroin and shooting each other. Needless to say, this book isn’t for the faint of heart. Even I found it hard to fully look through it in some parts. There comes a point where seeing pictures of pregnant mothers doing heroin just begins to get to you. As rough as it sounds, the book is absolutely amazing and is definitely something worth looking through. Although its graphic, the photography is beautiful. I’ll post some shots of the books in a few days.

So, I guess my mom forgot to tell me but today in the mail we got our iMac. I honestly had no idea this thing was coming, so needless to say when UPS came to the door with a big box from Apple, I really had no idea what was going on. It took a few minutes on the phone with my mom before she remembered that we ordered one. After about an hour setting it up, while she’s still on her computer, I have a pretty sweet workplace while I’m home.

Now I’m watching James Bond…

Cool d00d.

I’ve really been getting into portraits lately. Some of you may know I’m working on a book of portraits of my own. Due to this, I’ve been looking into others who do portraits well. Recently, I’ve stumbled on Robert Bryce Milburn.

One of the things that I’ve noticed is that he doesn’t like people looking happy. Also, his photos, those that are in color, have been perfectly colored to my liking. Anyways, check him out HERE

I honestly never would have expected this. Although I know that KR3W is one of the higher-end brands of skate gear, I didn’t expect their most recent line of shoes to look as sophisticated as this. If those grey hi-tops were black, I’d probably love them. Nevertheless, I’ll probably buy those hi-tops anyways, I love em. Sadly, they’ve only gone with dark grey. And, they’re all still skateable.

I loooove these.

And, thanks to really helpful tip, I found out that these actually do come in black. I’m getting for sure.

Popped up on hypbeast a few days ago. Apart from that massive ring with the head on it, I love all of that jewelry. A bit to flashy for me, but its all good. Anyways, check this out.

Nevertheless, I think its a very cool picture.

I haven’t posted a picture of my desktop in months really. Although I’ve been constantly fucking with the appearance, finding a ton of backgrounds that I like or don’t like or whatever, I think I’ve finally been able to settle on something for more than a few days. The thing about me is, I always feel like theres more I can do, and I’m sure in a few days I’ll find something new to change around the way my computer works in one way or another. Furthermore, its almost impossible to find a wallpaper I’m really happy with. So, here’s a few of my favourite wallpapers and then, what I’m working with. So, enjoy. Take em if you want. If you click the picture, it’ll bring it to its original size. I’ve scaled them down so that they fit the post

Three things,
1) Incase you haven’t noticed, I really like KAWS wallpaper.
2) The picture of “I like you, don’t die soon” was taken by my boy Jesse Santana, and you can find the link to his Flickr at the footer of this page
3) The Visvim collage was made by my friend over at On & Beyond, one of my favourite blogs.

Lastly, I’m currently rocking this as my desktop…

If you want the wallpaper I’m using, drop a comment on here. That way, it’ll go to my blackberry, my email and here, which means I probably wont forget. Just drop your email and I’d be happy to send it.

P.S. You have to click the images in the gallery twice to get to the full size.

Ah! So Much Excitement!

Every year I send away for the HUF giveaway and always get a shitload of stuff back. Hats, stickers, shirts, sweaters sometimes. Trust me, these guys go nuts and always throw in some good shit. I’m a tad sketched out about sending cash in the mail, but I’ll prolly send about 30 or 35 and see what I get. I’m expecting a few shirts, a hat, some stickers. The great thing is that it isnt always from HUF either, you can sometimes get shit from their friends over at The Hundreds, Diamond, shit like that.

PS If you don’t know HUF, you may wanna look up their stuff.

Cudderisback Video

Kinda cool. Check it out. I’m surprised he’s allowed to show himself in a video smoking weed and shit with no repercussions.

Jonze is always working on something cool. Whether its shooting Where The Wild Things are or slapping Kanye (staged of course, and for a purpose), he always seems to keep us posted. His blog, We Love You So, is definitely one of my favourites.

Anyways, he’s recently released this book that coincides with a movie of the same name that he’s releasing for the sundance film festival. The movie is a 30 minute long love story about a robot living in contemporary L.A., “where life moves at a seemingly regular pace with the exception of a certain amount of robot residents who live among the population”. The main character is a librarian who is content with his life until he meets a young free spirited robot.

The film premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
