I was asked to shoot the MDHS Pre-Prom the other day and here are the photos. Simple as that haha. The photos turned out pretty well I think haha, but we’ll just have to see what they think of them. Yeah mom, me too. Earlier today Kanye released his return to rap debut single. I always am a bit taken a back when I listen to new Kanye. I remember first time I heard “Through The Wire” I kinda just went “oh shit wait…what did he just do?”.

Welcome back ‘Ye. I feel sorry for anyone releasing an album within 2 months of his.

My friend asked me the other day what I pack when I go away for a day or two, because I always have a bag with me. I’m gone for about two days, so I decided to unpack and show what I’m carrying. I’ll probably do a few more of these for trips but this is what I’ll have with me for the next few days. Stuffs a bit crooked I know, it was taken in a hurry. Listed below;

Bag: Vintage bag from my dad. J. Crew makes a similar one.
Smokes: Some HK joints. Jasper got them for me, they’re growing on them.
Sunglasses: Stussy, “coltrane”.
iPods:I pretty much always roll with two of them these days
Shirts: Ralph Lauren & Wings + Horns. Both comfy. Both tailored.
Ext. Harddrive: Lacie. 120 gigs. I always have it. Movies, photos, all good for busses and long travels. Supreme sticker covers it.
Books: Gullivers Travels which I’m loving and a quick notebook for some last minute thoughts.
Cameras: Minolta XG-1 50mm + Pentax k200d that I took the picture with. I ususally roll with two now.
Lenses: Pentax 35mm, Pentax 10-17mm fisheye.
Cologne: Yves Saint Laurent, La Nuit De L’Homme
Keys: Surface 2 Air necklace, house keys.
Phone: Blackberry 8900. Its working like shit lately. New one soon.
Watch: Nixon. I’m wearing my leather strap one, but I like to have two, depending on occasion.
Wallet: Comme Des Garcon. I’ve had it for two years and it still looks like the day I bought it. Easily best wallet ever.
Laptop: Apple Macbook Pro. I opted for the 13 inch due to how often I’m on the road. I didn’t want anything bigger because the small one is convenient. I did however, opt for the top of the line one with the faster processor and bigger hard drive. Fuckya.
Mouse: Apple Mighty Mouse. I take it everywhere I have my laptop. Its small, wireless and great for editing photos on the go. I can’t edit with a trackpad so I use this thing. I love how the top of it has some of the same trackpad software as my laptop does.
Shoes: Yves Saint Laurent. Super vintage. I love them.
Not Pictured: Jil Sander keychain, Pentax k200d, chargers, cables, Supreme lighter, Nike dri-fit socks for hot days.

I said it earlier, and people said “don’t worry, he’ll hold some back” well no, he won’t. I was right. I was right. Feel it. He’s released so many god damn songs off Thank Me Later that theres going to be nothing left. He just released another one with Jay-z that would have been huge. Except, he releases them, then bloggers like me come on, rant about it, but then post the songs anyways. AAANNNDDD theres another song with Alicia Keys that about to be released in a day or so I know it. There’s youtube vids of him preforming it which means its coming in the next few days.

I have almost half the songs off his upcoming album (Yes I’m holding onto a couple I haven’t posted yet hahaaah, suckers. You can Thank Me Later for not giving you all the Drake tracks now). Drake, I love you, but if your album tanks because people have heard all the songs already, thats your fault dog. I know you answered it once, but I gotta ask…what’re you doing (what’re you doing)? As soon as I heard the beat come on I went “oooooooooh!” which is the sign that this is gonna be a banger. A few months from now that it’ll be in all the girls facebook status’s.

Holy shit I’m feeling this today. Sometimes I forget about songs so I get really excited when I hear them again. I kinda turned it on and went “OH! SHIT! THIS IS DOPE!” and now I’m just vibing Flying Lotus for the rest of the day. If you like Nujabes, give this a try for sure . In 1983, it has a weird introduction so just skip ahead a bit. Try Litermeter too, its a lot more chill and has a stronger Nujabes vibe while 1983 has an early RJD2 vibe. I’m actually really excited about finding these guys again so you better give them a listen.

One time we played in Washington. We played a five game series against the Bulls. It was the year they won 72 games. We lose all three games by a total of seven points. I saw Michael Jordan come into our locker room with a cigar, while it was lit, and said, ‘Who’s going to check me tonight?’ And we looked at Calbert Cheaney and we were laughing like little school kids knowing that Calbert Cheaney was going to get him, we knew it wasn’t a game for Mike. He was going to be there and he was going to be playing like he said. Game Three we get off the bus and Juwan (Howard) is from Chicago and used to workout there. I’ll never forget, Jordan was sitting on his Ferrari and Pippen was right there and they have a cigar lit. We get off the bus and we have to pass them with a lit cigar. You want to talk about posturing? Forget Phil Jackson. You got Michael Jordan there behind the scenes smoking a cigar before the game, letting us know that he’s the Red Auerbach before the game even started. It was almost like, ‘I lit the cigar. I’m celebrating already. This is just a formality, you guys getting on the court tonight.

So I’ve had these for about 2 years now. I retired them a while ago then kept wearing them about a week later but the other day I realized it has to stop. They’ve gone past the point of “Oh cool, those vans have some wear in them” to something closer to “Oh…he really needs some new shoes” (even though in reality I probably actually have too many shoes). So, I’m OFFICIALLY retiring these joints. Thanks guys, its been fun.

After How I Got Over released, I’ve been stoked for new Roots songs from their new album to release. Unlike Drake, who seems to be releasing a new song off his Thank Me Later album every few weeks, The Roots are doing a pretty damn good job of keeping their album under wraps. However, they released Dear God 2.0 last night and I’m loving it. This one really seems to be a lot deeper and meaningful, so definitely pay attention to the lyrics.

Today I’ve been in a real classic rock mood and I just threw together a list of tunes that really do it for me. If you’re a fan of classic rock and are missing some of the songs on this list, its definitely worth adding to your collection. Anyways, the whole thing plays through pretty well if you put it in order, but also the songs themselves are great. Most of the songs are pretty common as they’re all pretty famous but still, its worth a listen. I just havent posted a playlist in a while so I might as well post something.
